Lowick in Lewisham

This morning, we hosted our next “In Conversation” event of the year, where we were joined by Brenda Dacres, Mayor of Lewisham and Jennifer Daothong, Chief Executive of Lewisham Council.

🤝 Together, in the room we received a rallying call to be creative and innovative in developing ways to build in the borough and a willingness to collaborate, highlighting partnership successes to date with the GLA as an example. This collaboration should extend to working with council leadership to identify the right local stakeholders for consultation, so that positive benefits for the community can be set out early, particularly for young people who must see a future for themselves in what comes forward in Lewisham.

🚆 We learned of the borough’s ambitions to be front of the pack to deliver on the Mayor’s London Growth Plan, and to secure investment in key infrastructure and transport programmes such as the Bakerloo Line Extension and improvements to the South Circular in Catford, stimulating investment into homes, jobs and regeneration.

📝 Lewisham’s Local Plan is set to be one of the first adopted under the new government’s NPPF, ready to seize the national growth agenda and turn future permissions into homes. We’re proud to be playing our part in driving delivery forward in the borough, supporting Barratt London secure permission at Bell Green Works in Sydenham, where activity is now underway.
